Sexy Insurance!

Social Networking for the Insurance Industry

I sure hope all you students did well during this 'window'. The Society's membership is worth every angst-filled minute [well.. maybe not the old Accounting program!!!!]

Happy to be a CPCU since 1980. [Hawaii first time! Returned with the Society in 2007]

Let me know if you have questions about the programs or the Society.

Hi
I have MBA with Insurance as my specialization from India.
I have moved to US recently and is trying to figure how I want to shape my career. Do you think CPCU is a good option.

I have a work experience in Accounting and has also done Masters in Commerce. Due to think doing CPA might be better for me.

Thanks

Neha,

If you want a career in insurance, CPCU is the way to go. It's very well respected within the industry and even before you get it finished it's beneficial. I'm sure it helped me get interviews and jobs. It gives you a well rounded view of the industry and is considered the highest insurance designation. Go for it if you're headed for insurance.

First - Welcome to the CPCU Group! I hope you will visit often.

As far as your question is concerned, it's a tough call. If Property / Casualty insurance is where you are going to build your career, and you won't NEED the CPA credentials, the CPCU gets you involved in the industry with a great network of similarly focused P&C professionals. It also gets you very well-versed and knowledgeable, about the business. Your MBA should get you some credit against the CPCU exam program. I guess it really depends on what you want from your career. Personally, I think th CPCU is the best investment I ever made [but, of course, I do not have an MBA nor an interest in obtaining the CPA!]

Hope this is of SOME assistance.
