Hi! to all of those who read this blog, I am wondering what area of insurance you are in and why you like it :) also how you fell into it! I would love to hear from as many different areas as possible, although I believe I would enjoy underwriting or claims investigation the most. I love math, so a career as an actuary is intriguing as well. How are the best ways to get my foot in the door with an insurance company? What kind of experience outside of the insurance industry works best for people trying to move into insurance? Does it make sense to try starting out as a CSR at an agency, a company call center, or something clerical? And then work hard to promote from within an insurance company?
I would like to know what would make me a best candidate in applying for open trainee-type positions for the areas I am interested in. Thank you to those who reply! :)
